Bradford City FC Community Foundation Programme and Bradford Council’s Sports & Leisure Service through partnership have successfully secured funding

from the Football Foundation to develop a new and innovative project ‘Cohesion through Football’.

The project has employed a dedicated Community Football and Physical Activities Development Officer that aims to:

Develop more football and physical activities, out of school hours and holiday courses, at grass roots level for deprived communities including BME and low- income families, targeting the top 16 wards of index of deprivation 2000 by rank. To include programmes that will target communities with progression routes to Local Clubs, Talent ID Centres and potentially Bradford City School of Excellence.

Engage and encourage partners and communities to work together and provide a platform in which they can capacity build through the provision of Coach Education, including Junior Football Organisers, Community Sports Leader Courses and Football Coaching courses at Introductory and level 1. Additionally there will be opportunities for mentoring and ‘buddying programme’ to ensure that the community start to work within their community.

Create a coordinated programme of activities that encourages healthy lifestyles and education of race awareness through the tool of football. Inter School Festivals and District Wide Competitions will be supported and co- ordinated through this position and will be linked to Schools Sports Partnership and Bradford Schools FA roles.
